But just how far do you have to go in order to be a traveler?

The U.S. Travel Association defines a tourist as someone who travels at least 50 miles (80 km) from home.

So, that’s how the world’s largest travel advocacy organization literally defines a traveler.

Well, Paul and I also believe that travel is more than mileage.

Travel is a perspective that requires neither passports nor planes, neither driver’s licenses nor road trips.

It’s a perspective that embraces all kinds and forms of travel. Including armchair travel.

And it’s a perspective that seeks beauty and finds joy everywhere.

Because there’ something special to discover everywhere. Whether you’re going around the world or around the block.

As February begins, let’s consider our immediate surroundings with fresh eyes and a spirit of discovery.

Let’s go around new corners and turn down different streets.

Let’s shop at a new boutique, visit a different coffee shop, or try a new restaurant.

And let’s be travelers in our own backyard. Maybe even book an overnight stay at a lovely local hotel.
